Wind Deflector Clamp Pad for KTM 450 Rally Replica Windscreen
This clamp pad overcomes one of the biggest problems with a popular type of wind deflector: securely mounting the deflector to a curved windscreen.
The Problem With The Original Clamp Pads
The original mounting pads do not conform to the curve of the windscreen and so the wind deflector can never be adequately fastened to the screen.
New Monobloc Clamp Pad
A single polyurethane clamp pad replaces the 2 rubber clamp pads that are supplied with these deflectors and additionally features a clamp profile which matches the curvature of the windscreen. Incorporating both pads into a single block prevents the clamp pads moving under the mounting screws, the main reason these deflectors fall off.
The Result: A securely mounted deflector.
This clamp pad has been specifically designed to suit KTM 450 Rally Replica Windscreen (P/N: 764 08 008 000) which is used in some rally tower kits. It may also suit other screens. Use the Contact Us page with the make, model & year of your bike and we will let you know if it fits. If you have an aftermarket windscreen fitted then include its' brand and model as well.
Installation
Installation of the wind deflector uses all of the same parts as originally supplied with the deflector apart from replacing the the 2 rubber pads with this new clamp pad.
Refer to the installation video.
- Add a drop of superglue to the back of each of the two metal clamp plates and install into the clamp pad. This stops them falling out during installation.
- Clip the clamp pad onto the top of the screen. You will need to expand the windscreen slot in the clamp pad slightly to pass over the bead that runs around the edge of the windscreen.
- Remove the four mounting screws from the aluminium clamp.
- Slide the clamp into clamp pad making sure to retain the metal clamp plates.
- Center the assembly on the screen.
- Add non-permanent thread locker to each of the four clamp bolts and tighten each one until finger tight. Tighten the clamp bolts evenly by adding half a turn to each until the deflector is secure. This should be no more than 1.5 turns from finger tight.
Do not over tighten
